Fall 2024 Arlee After-School Program

The Arlee School Program is an immersive school-based program held in the fall and spring of each school year. The eight-week comprehensive after-school program begins with a parent session. It continues with weekly sessions with the girls, typically held on Tuesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the school campus, and closes with a post-program community gathering (i.e., community smoke-meat night with the Tribe, representing iron and protein sources critical to good health). The program uses a nature-based curriculum implemented in collaboration with native plant experts, Trina Fyant and Myrna DuMontier, who are members of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. They offer plant and nature-centered education to provide cultural and holistic approaches to embracing cyclical wellness. Trina and Myrna share knowledge on the cultural use of native plants as food and medicine and how this benefits overall health, well-being, and hormonal balance. They cultivate cultural rites of passage and transitions from adolescence to adulthood through their ancestral ceremonial traditions across the community.

When: 4:00-5:30PM on Tuesdays - The Fall program is currently in session for an 8-week period.

Where: Arlee School, Arlee, MT
